Ward, Verobish Announce More Than $1.7 Million in Green Light-Go Grants for Blair County Traffic Improvements

August 5, 2026

HARRISBURG — Sen. Judy Ward (R-30), chair of the Senate Transportation Committee, and Rep. Andrea Verobish (R-Blair) announced the approval of two grant projects in Blair County totaling more than $1.7 million to modernize several intersections to increase safety for pedestrians and motorists.

“This funding will help improve traffic flow while making our roads safer for everyone who travels through these busy intersections," Ward said. "Upgrading traffic signal infrastructure is an important step toward reducing congestion and enhancing safety for drivers and pedestrians.”

“Residents of Blair County cross these intersections every single day, whether that be as a driver, a biker or even a pedestrian. These upgrades help keep everyone safe,” Verobish said. “I’m pleased to see the City of Altoona and Logan Township directly benefitting from these grants and appreciate their ongoing commitment to traffic safety.”

The City of Altoona will receive nearly $300,000 to upgrade the intersection at Pleasant Valley Boulevard and Jaggard Street.

Logan Township will receive $1.42 million for signal equipment and detection upgrades at the following intersections with Osgood Drive: Sophira Lane, Falon Lane and the Home Depot/Best Buy entrance.

The grants are provided through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's Green Light-Go program. Established by the General Assembly in 2013, Green Light-Go is a competitive state grant program designed to improve the efficiency and operation of existing traffic signals.
